Whether discussing workplace trends, office culture, effective communication or
diversity equity and inclusion, the approach remains the same - to engage, inform
and inspire individuals and companies to be their best.
Positively impacting people and inspiring change is the driving force behind all speaking, writing, and mentoring.
Our organizations require adaptation and improvement.
Where does YOURS need it most?
Individually, we require life-long learning and growth.
Where do YOU need it most?
As an industry veteran, woman of color,
published writer, extroverted introvert, and
active observer of the world around me...
I have a lot to say.
"Maria VanDeman is an absolute gem in the DEI space as an advocate, advisor, and communicator. She brings a unique perspective by sharing her personal story, and she’s able to share it with grace and intentionality. I’ve seen firsthand Maria’s vulnerability galvanize an audience, helping the listeners consider a different perspective than their own lived experience."
"My initial experience with a DEI(B) was listening to Maria VanDeman speak at a construction leaders breakfast. I was shaken by the awakening I felt, this is something I have always known but it was not spoken about. I immediately knew I had to bring this up with my team and with the Latin Builders association board, in which I chair the Women of the LBA.
A few months later Maria spoke to a group of women, mainly in male dominated professions. We were all moved by the realization of the shift we need in our culture and workplaces. Each of us in our own way have felt discrimination, hate, or intolerance in either our personal or professional lives. My favorite part is that this conversation is not meant to make you feel guilty about thoughts or feelings you may have had in the past.
Maria presents this in a format that allow us to not focus on past mistakes but only on the present and future, this allows us to take a moment to learn about each other before we rush to conclusions. We need to keep this conversation present, and the message alive."
"Maria is a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the interior design community at large. Her awareness concerning the representation of BIPOC design professionals within the design industry and her passion to educate others about how to be more inclusive serve as a catalyst to all. So goes beyond her job to serve as a volunteer and advocate for youth and professionals, to level up their goals and aspirations to become better, informed designers. "
